Sipjin Taekwondo is a traditionally based, family orientated club, teaching Taekwondo, the Korean Art of self-defence. Taekwondo is both an effective Martial Art and a modern day Olympic Sport. At Sipjin Taekwondo we specialize in Traditional Taekwondo and self-defence. Sipjin Taekwondo is one of the few places where whole families can learn, develop and train together, with classes being available for all ages, from five and up. The word ‘Sipjin’ comes from a traditional Taekwondo ideal meaning “endless development and growth, which are always affected by a systemic and orderly rule”
Taekwondo has a heritage dating back some 2000 years, as evidence found in ancient Korean temples show. It has developed over that time into the comprehensive Martial Art, Self-Defence system and modern Olympic Sport we see today. Throughout the world Taekwondo is practiced by over 50 million people in 174 countries. In Australia today there are over 1000 schools with more than 120 000 students training. Statistics show that Taekwondo is the 2nd most participated sport in the world after soccer. The word ‘Taekwondo’ itself can be broken into; ‘TAE =foot, KWON = fist and DO = art’. Taekwondo has been found to not only to increase one’s ability in self-defence, but also to improve one’s self-confidence, self-discipline, self-esteem, physical fitness and general good health.
